Project Overview

Building Blocks Adaptive is a digital math practice program for Pre-K to 8th grade, that uses personalized, game-based activities to build math skills. It adapts to each student's performance, offering hints or tutorials for incorrect answers and foundational activities for persistent difficulties, while providing teachers with detailed data to monitor progress and inform instruction.

The goal was create a strong math foundation through engaging activities that connect informal mathematical understanding to formal classroom learning while allowing teachers to easily track student and class performance through data and reports.

With the idea of “math in your world” in mind, the design builds on a progressive building concept to illustrate how students' environments expand as they grow. As students advance, the activity themes change, representing the way a child’s world expands as they grow.

User Engagement

Through 200 unique game-based activities, learning is made engaging through interactive digital content across 3000+ screens. We designed 8 unique program themes, created 35 activity dashboards, and 50 authoring templates.

Personalized Learning Paths

Adaptive technology adjusts to the student. For example, if a student answers incorrectly, the system offers a chance to retry, provides a hint, or presents a detailed tutorial to break down concepts into smaller steps.
